Paul Andreu, architect,
born on 10 July 1938,
in Bordeaux Caudéran

Former pupil of the Ecole Polytéchnique (graduated 1958) Chief Engineer of Ponts et Chaussées in 1963 Awarded Government’s Architect Diploma (DPLG) in 1968.

Officer of the French Legion of Honour Grand Officer of the French National Order of Merit Commander of the French Order of Arts and Letters. Member of the French Academy of Architecture Member of the French Academy of Air and Space

1976
Silver Grand Medal
J.F. Delarue Prize awarded
by the French Academy
of Architecture for the architectural quality of Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport.

1977
French National Grand Prize in Architecture.

1981
Construction’s Man of the Year “Engineering News-Record”, Citation, USA.

1987
President of the study group “Architecture and Export”,
on the export of French architectural and engineering ideas, held by the French Ministry for Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Planning,
and Transportation.

1989
Florence Gould Grand Prize
for the whole of his work.

1990
First Category Architecture License, Japan. Special jury prize for the best metal construction for the elevator tower of the Arche de la Défense, Paris.

1994
Da Vinci Award
for construction, given
by the French Committee
of Construction and Fine Arts for the whole of his work.

1995
April: “Nikkei BP Technology Award’s 1995” for Osaka Kansaï International Airport, Japan. With Mr Tsuneharu Hattori, KIA Ltd, Mr Piano, Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Mr Kimiaki Minai, Nikken Sekkei Ltd, Mr Takeshi Kido, Japan Airport Consultant, Mr Obayashi, Mr Takenaka.

May: “Japan Institute of Architecture Award (AIJ) 1995” for Osaka Kansaï International Airport, Japan. With: Mr Tsuneharu Hattori, KIA Ltd, Mr Piano, Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Mr Kimiaki Kido, Japan Airport Consultant.

“Aga Khan architecture Award 1995” for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport landscape development at Jakarta-Cangareng.

1996
April :1st Price : realization of a leisure and commercial center ‘Cité Europe’ in Calais awarded in Montreux, Switzerland by "The International Council of Shopping Centers" (I.C.S.C.).

June : Spécial award of the ‘Association Aéronautique et Astronautique de France (A.A.A.F.).

1997
November : "Special Award, commendation" for the tridimentional structure of by The Institution of Structural Engineers in Londres with RFR.

1998

December : competition award for the ‘nicest steel works’
for the ‘Charles-de-Gaulle’ airport 2F hall’s peninsula awarded by the French steel construction syndicate

1999
March : Great Medal
of the century awarded
by the French Aéro-Club.
2000
September : Citizen of honour of the city of Guangdong, China.

2002

for the Osaka sea museum awarded by The Institution
